Lake Balaton (9hrs)

“Mom! I don’t wanna eat lángos again! We had it yesterday and the day before, too. Can I have hake instead? And an ice cream? Can I eat it in the water? Peter’s dad also had it there. The water is so warm, it wouldn’t refresh me anymore. I’ll go and take a shower.”

Balaton. The lake that’s the Riviera for all Hungarians. Surrounded by hills on the Northern side, being flat on the Southern. Provides relaxation for families with kids, if they only wish to get tanned and offers good eats at the traditional csárda restaurants.

We’ll start at your place driving to Szántód. This is the narrowest part of the lake. We’ll enjoying taking a very rise to the Northern part watching the gentle waves. Arriving at Tihany peninsula taking a walk at the historic village known for its echo and organic levander products. Then we drive up to Hegyestű National Park for the stunning views of the Káli basin. Time for a delicious lunch with local wine at a village nearby continuing to the “Stone sea”. After learning these geographic formations we’d return to Budapest. A good sleep in the car is a guarantee.
