Rebellion? Art?

At the late 19th century the academic system which dominated art education found painting and sculpture superior to crafts. As selection of arts were dominated by poorly made objects imitating passed century’s styles, some artists decided to make an end of this. Instead of these mass produced items the ones inspired by the greatest beauties found in the nature came into the limelight. First English and Scottish artists worked on this project establishing the Arts and Crafts movement. This was followed by the “New Art” style in architecture well known as Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, Modernisme or – in Austria and Hungary – Secession.

Our tour is dedicated to the most unique Secessionist buildings in the Hungarian capital Budapest. We chose the most wondrous ones of the near 1000. Tours last 4 hours including a coffee break. Its splendid Art Nouveau interior helps You travelling a century back to the belle époque time when Budapest was the 2nd most rapidly growing city in the whole world.
